Mapping building damage in Lebanon and northern Israel

Lebanon damage data visualized in Le Monde.

In the spring of 2024, Jamon Van Den Hoek and I extended damage monitoring to Lebanon as regional conflict broadened and intensified. As in other contexts, we distributed data freely to humanitarian and journalistic organizations and continued monitoring beyond the November 2024 ceasefire. We also surveyed for satellite-indicated building damage in northern Israel, which the Financial Times featured in its reporting on the impacts of the regional conflict. Below is a tabulation of articles featuring visuals and statistics that we generated on damage in Lebanon.
